God's Promises For The Unemployed
81The Hardest Work In The World
When bad things happen to good people, God can preserve the good in them while He walks them through the bad circumstances. The key is to interact with Him while He is walking you through. Don’t let anger and worry overwhelm you and cause you to ignore Him.
Bear in mind that what you lost is the opportunity to be rewarded with money for your service. You still have your self-worth, and your competence; and you can still serve while you wait for a paying assignment. Hang on to your sense of purpose and focus on God as the ultimate authority on the best next step for your life.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 9.2% of the working population were unemployed in June 2011. God accommodates questions from each one of them, and each one who listens will receive His personal response which includes expressions of His love. The following conversation is an example.
How can I not worry when I'm unemployed?
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
How long will I suffer while waiting on Your plans?
Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put [you] to shame, because [My] love has been poured out into your heart. Romans 5: 3, 4
I agree, but some who still have jobs are not as . . .
But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? . . . Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use? God is educating you . . . This . . . isn't punishment; it's training, the normal experience of children . . . We respect our own parents for training and not spoiling us, so why not embrace God's training so we can truly live? Romans 9: 20, 21; Hebrews 12: 7-9 MSG
While I’m in this training, will I earn an income?
You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced . . . wealth for me.” But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear . . . But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Deuteronomy 8: 17; Matthew 6: 25, 33
Are you saying that I need You more than I need money?
I know the plans I have for you. Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Jeremiah 29: 11; Proverbs 3: 5; Psalm 32:8
Maximixe The Use Of Your Time
Well, will you please show me where we’re going?
What is that in your hand? Whatever [work] your hand finds to do, do it with all your might. Each according to his ability. I myself will go with you and give you success. Exodus 4:2; Ecclesiastes 9:10; Matthew 25:15; Exodus 33:14 TLB
Start working without pay?
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. Give, and it will be given to you . . . For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 1 Peter 4:10; Proverbs 11:25; Luke 6:38
Meanwhile can I trust You to look after my interest?
I am the LORD, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me? Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Jeremiah 32:27; Philippians 4:6,7
Remember To Relax Sometimes
That takes care of stress, not the financial responsibilites.
Do not fear . . . I will help you. The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry. God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you? And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. Isaiah 41:10; 1 Kings 7:14; Matthew 6:30; 2 Corinthians 9: 7, 8; Isaiah 55:8;
So, I'll just have to trust You.
I want you to trust me in your times of trouble, so I can rescue you, and you can give me glory. Know and rely on the love of God. Psalm 50:15. TLB; 1 John 4:16
What Is Your Prognosis?
According to the Economic Times (May, 2012), in a report from the International Labor Organisation, almost 75 million youth around the world will be unemployed throughout 2012; and it will be 2016 before the unemployment rate lowers. That is their report.
My report is: I have never seen the godly abandoned, or their children begging for bread . . . For the Lord loves justice and He will never abandon the godly. You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus. (Philippians 4:19 MSG; Psalm 37: 25, 28 NLT)

Totally inspiring and a timely reminder that success and fulfilment are the domain of the Lord. A pop star died a couple of days ago at age 27. She wasn't unemployed and had a lot more money than all of your readers combined. But she forgot who brings success and today she's no more.
Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Great, motivating, inspiring and spirit-lifting hub. We do need such words in times like this when everything seem to be gloomy - words we can stand on as they've got the power to take us through.
Thank you so much MsDora; may God help us remember this.
Stay blessed!
You obviously have a great deal of faith. Keep on hubbing/sharing.
This is truly encouraging. Your scriptures references are spot-on. Awesome, writing!
Yeshuan, I appreciate your comment. Happy when someone takes the time to read the scriptures. Thanks!
This is so encouraging, thank you! I have an autistic daughter and it is hard for me to work outside the home. She also suffers with a chronic nerve condition that is very painful and hard to monitor because you don't know when the pain is going to hit. This article really hit home for me because God has kept me afloat, even in the times when I am not working I still see his provision. I'm going to reference this hub a lot! Thank you MsDora
Thank you , Ms Dora...it turns out that I am unemployed right now...(Sept 2011) I have been busy writing and spreading the word, the best way I know. Your hub has very interesting points for me to consider. God Bless!
Thank you, Ms. Dora, This inspiring hub came at a time when I needed it most.
This is a nice hub MsDora. This hub uplift my spirit. And your words are very inspirational and encouraging.Thank you for this hub. God bless you always MsDora! Keep writing ! always keep the faith!
This is a great hub, MsDora, and right on. We've lost a huge part of our income due to my husband's time of unemployment and a big cut in my pay. But God has provided all the way. I've looked at it as a test of my faith. Do I really trust Him the way I say I do?
Wow, this is so, so encouraging. I lost my teaching job and I've been trying to make it at home ever since. It's hard to keep going sometimes! This is really encouraging and I will bookmark this for further meditation. Thank you.
Love your clear and concise writing. Bless you MsDora.
My son is unemployed with a new baby. When I asked he and his wife what they wanted for Christmas they replied,"We don't really need anything. Losing a job and having a baby makes you realize you don't need so much". I nearly collapsed on the floor. What an answer to prayer. Hallelujah!
Very inspiring! Great hub. I became unemployed in August of 2011 (two months before the wedding we had been planning). Everything worked out great and God has always provided for my husband and I. I have to giggle and smile at "Start working without pay?" because I started here on hubpages to keep myself from going stir-crazy at home all day and it felt like working for free in the beginning ;)
" I myself will go with you and give you success." - Nothing could make me more motivated to work than knowing that He is by my side and will help me reach my goals. Very motivating hub! Thank you for sharing the words of God. I do not have time to look up the Bible for inspirational quotes, words to lift my spirits and just help me go through a tough day. So I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to anticipate people's questions and answer them by quoting the Bible. I have faith and it just became stronger today by reading your helpful hub. Voting your hub up, useful, beautiful and awesome!
Came back for more encouragement. Love the picture of the mom with her kids that say, "Maximize your time". Spending time with children and teaching them values is way more important than anyone gives credit for. Blessings

Thank you for this beautiful hub MsDora. You know as well as I the tough economy that Michigan is facing. Although I am employed, my husband is not and it is challenging. In addition to that, I had to take a pay cut last year and will most likely face another in the spring of next year. I struggle with the likelihood that our school district will not be around in about 3 years due to the financial crisis that we are in and the additional constraints that the governor has put in place for schools here.
It is a daily struggle to keep in mind and remember that God has a plan and to trust while pursuing some other options in the event of a job loss for me. It is scary but imperative to believe. I will be bookmarking this for future reminders!
